Bed and Breakfast establishements offer overnight accommodation with breakfast, but not other meals. Usuallly bed and breakfast establishments are private homes with from 6 to 10 bedrooms.

Paying guests are offered a private bedroom usually with an ensuite bathroom although some offer private bedrooms with a shared bathroom. Breakfast is usually served a communal dining room or sometimes the guest's own bedroom.

When the Bed and Breakfast establishement owners hire professional staff for cooking, cleaning etc., the Bed and Breakfast homes becomes closer to being an hotel, and is often promoted as such.
